What are the components of a laser cutting machine?

A laser cutting machine is primarily composed of six major systems working in concert to achieve precise cutting: the laser generator, optical transmission system, CNC motion control system, auxiliary systems, control system, and the machine tool's mechanical structure.

1. Laser Generator (Core Power Source)

This is the "heart" of the machine that generates the laser. It converts electrical energy into a high-energy-density laser beam using a specific medium (such as CO₂, fiber, or YAG crystals), thereby determining the cutting power, wavelength, and cutting capability.

2. Optical Transmission System (Laser Beam Path)

Responsible for precisely guiding the laser beam to the cutting head, this system primarily consists of reflecting mirrors (to change the laser's direction) and focusing lenses (to concentrate the laser into an extremely small spot, enhancing cutting precision and energy density).

3. CNC Motion Control System (Precise Positioning)

Acting as the equipment's "brain," this system integrates a computer, CNC software, and an operation panel. It allows for the import of design drawings (such as CAD files), the setting of cutting parameters (speed, power), and the coordination of synchronized operations across all systems. Comprising components such as servo motors, industrial digital control boards, and cutting software, it drives the motors or cutting head based on control commands to ensure the laser beam follows the preset path, thereby determining cutting speed and trajectory accuracy.

4. Auxiliary Systems (Ensuring Stability)

• Cooling System: Uses a water chiller to cool the laser generator and optical components, preventing damage from overheating.

• Gas Assist System: Blows high-pressure gas (such as oxygen or nitrogen) during cutting to remove molten slag and protect the lenses, while also aiding the cutting process (e.g., oxygen-assisted combustion for cutting metal).

• Dust Removal System: Collects smoke, dust, and waste material generated during cutting to maintain a clean working environment.

5. Mechanical Transmission System

Composed of the machine tool, mechanical structural components, the worktable, guide rails, and drive mechanisms (such as rack-and-pinion or ball screw assemblies).
